Music- Process Journal

Week 1- On Monday the teachers introduced the unit and it seems like a really interesting unit. This is unit is a little different than others because in other units we were given a topic and we had to make a story specifically on that topic but in this unit we get to choose the topic. This week we got introduced to the unit and we also made groups and decided our topics. The teacher gave us different gave us different topics and me and my group has decided to combine two topics and we have started thinking about a story. My group consists of 5 people 3 art people:Xiang, Alex, Adi and 2 art people: Me and Daniel 


Week 2- We have now finished the story. We have all agreed that it is a good story and we were able to combine everyone's idea to make the story. We have also decided our projection method. We have also finished the action plan and we all know have a clear path about what we have to do. We also made lists about all the things art has to do and we have made another list listing all the things music has to do.

Week3- This week art and music were spilt up. Art has started making the characters out of clay and music has started learning basics of piano so that we can start learning different songs. We have also started making a small script for flashcards that we are going to put in the animation. We have made a list of scenes and what happens in the scene and what music plays in the background. 

Week 4- Art has finished making the characters and they have started working on backgrounds for each scene. Music has started learning songs. We have finished a small part of music. One part of the music is happy and one part of it is sad. We have also finished a song for the romantic scenes. 

Week 5- Art has now finished all characters and backgrounds and has started working on the stop motion video. The music group has now finished 2 more songs hey brother and ferleis. We also have started a new song called say something. We should be done in about 3 weeks if everything goes as planned and written in the action plan 

Week 6- Art is has now finished stop motion. Music has now finished the new song which is Say something and that was the last song. We have 2 weeks left and music and has to record and combine the music andante has to finish up to the video and then we can combine everything. 

Week 7- Art has combined all the clips together and has added flashcards. Music has now finished recording all music and music has also combines all the songs together. We just need to finish combining the music and stop motion video. 

Week 8- This week music and art were both together. The Music group edited the music to match each of the scenes. Then we combine the music and video together and the project is complete. Combining the music took longer than expected. It was really hard because of the different formats but we finished it in the end and are very pleased with our project and next week we are going to watch it in class. 

ART- Process Journal

Reflections

Week 1- This week we got an introduction to our new unit. It is called Phantasmagoria . I think its a really interesting unit and I have never seen anything like it. We made our groups. I am happy with my group. I think we all are very hard working and good and I think we will work well together. This topic is very interesting and new so I am very excited to work on this production. 

Week 2- Me and my group have decided on the story. Everybody had really good ideas and together we managed to come up with a good story that is very scary. Me and my fellow art students have come up with a way for projection. We have also come up with an action plan to assign everybody work for the coming weeks. 

Week 3- Our group had 20 minutes together and we have worked out all details and made sure that everybody knows their role in the production. Then we spilt up and the art students have gotten started on sketches on all the characters. I have started making a homemade projector to project the puppets. The projector is half way finished and it will be completed by next week. 

Week 4- Our group is done with the drawings and we are now tracing them on transparent paper. I have finished making the projector. We have also finished making the backgrounds for every scene and put it on transparent sheet. After this we are going to start testing the projector and get the show together.  

Week 5- We tested the projector and it didn't work as expected so my team have decided to make a stop motion video instead. We have taken all of our sketches and stuck them on cardboard. I have made a background for the stop motion video. We have started making the stop motion video. We are running a little behind the action plan but we plan on catching up on our work and get everything ready on time. 

Week 6- We have finished the stop motion video. It took time making it since in stop motion you have to take a lot of pictures and it is time consuming but we managed to finish it right on time.  Everything is finished for art and music. Next week we will start practicing together.

Week 7- We have practiced together. The puppets are shown in a video and the music people are performing live. We practiced everything and it going pretty well. We plan on working on some areas where we are messing up and work on final details but it looks very good. 

Week 8- The performance is this week. We are preparing ourselves to get ready and make sure our show is perfect. Our show looks good and we all hope the show goes well. 

Week 9- The show went pretty good. The sound effects were a little off and their were parts that we could improve for next time but over all we all put in a lot of hard work into the show and I think everyone liked it and enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun working in this production but now I am ready to switch to music and work on music part of another interesting production.
